Remote Sensing is an exhibition hosted by CLUI — The Center for Land Use Interpretation. This project primarily explores the modular typeface and the overall identity system designed for the exhibition.

As the "eyes in the sky," remote sensing technology visualizes invisible data—such as CO₂ emissions—by defining and decoding color. Creative coding tools, such as p5.js, were used to explore how color can function as a system for data visualization within the exhibition.

Icons in different colors were used to represent various legends on the map and implemented a more modular approach through code to generate maps/images.

Data visualization

To reflect how remote sensing technology visualizes data, I used p5.js to create a color-block-based visualization of global daily CO₂ emissions from 1970 to 2020.

Each column represents 1 year (365 days of data), and every 10 years are grouped into a single panel. In total, 5 panels represent 5 decades. The emission values are mapped to a gradient color spectrum, with each color corresponding to a specific emission intensity. This approach allows viewers to experience the power of data directly through color.
